A few things worth knowing.

MarkWell & Co. is a custom fabrication studio based in Owensboro, Kentucky. We produce premium signage, wall art, monuments, dedication plaques, and combined-substrate trade-supply components. Our work blends laser engraving, sand carving, ChromaLuxe printing, and CNC fabrication under one roof.

Buckhorn Laser Works is now operating as MarkWell & Co. Same studio, same founder, same approach to the work — expanded to reflect the full range of what we now produce. The shop floor and the philosophy didn't change. The name did.

We work across wood, acrylic, glass, leather, fabric, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, titanium, coated metals, ChromaLuxe-coated aluminum, granite, marble, limestone, and combined-substrate compositions that integrate several at once. If you're working with a material we haven't listed, ask — we've probably engraved it.

The studio runs a CO₂ laser, fiber laser, UV laser, CNC router, Crystal Blast Pro 2.0 sand carver, dye-sublimation printer and press, and two heat presses. The Studio page has a fuller walkthrough of each.

ChromaLuxe is a dye-sublimation process that bonds inks directly into a specially coated aluminum substrate. The result is a photographic surface that's scratch-resistant, UV-stable, and rated for both indoor and outdoor use. It's the substrate we reach for whenever the image is the point — wall art, donor walls, interpretive panels, monument portrait inserts.

Sand carving (or sand blasting) uses high-pressure abrasive to cut precise depth into hard materials — glass, granite, marble, stone, wood, even leather. We use it for outdoor monuments, dedication markers, deep-carved glass panels, awards, and architectural elements where the message has to live in the material rather than on top of it.

A combined-substrate piece integrates two or more materials in a single finished sign or plaque — for example, a ChromaLuxe photographic panel set into an engraved bronze frame, or a sand-carved glass overlay mounted to a CNC-cut walnut backer. The combination is the wedge: it's what distinguishes premium dedication work from off-the-shelf signage.

Yes. The studio's wall art lane serves both commercial and residential clients. Commercial work includes dimensional logos, branded wall installations, and large-format interior pieces. Residential work tends toward one-of-a-kind heirloom pieces — family portraits on ChromaLuxe, sand-carved glass, engraved walnut.

Yes. We produce ChromaLuxe interpretive panels rated for outdoor use, donor recognition walls, exhibit graphics, and wayfinding for parks & recreation departments, museums, nature centers, and educational facilities. Spec sheets and substrate samples are available on request.

Yes. We work directly with families and as a trade supplier to monument companies. Memorial work includes ChromaLuxe portrait inserts, fiber-engraved bronze nameplates, sand-carved granite, and combined-substrate dedication pieces. The studio handles family-facing work by appointment, with a careful conversation before any cut.

We offer two signature approaches. The first sets a recessed ChromaLuxe photo inset into an aluminum or bronze plaque. The second uses a full ChromaLuxe photographic background with a laser-engraved cast acrylic overlay carrying the dedication and donor names. Yes. Bottle engraving, numbered award runs, and single-occasion keepsakes are a regular part of the studio's work — we've grouped them as Premium Engraving. Numbered bottle runs for corporate gifts, sand-carved crystal awards, walnut and brass presentation pieces, leather-bound books. Most of this work arrives with a date attached — we work backwards from the presentation.

Yes. We run two hat presses alongside the rest of the equipment, so branded apparel runs — hats, soft goods, opening-day kits, anniversary lots — can be produced in step with signage and brand-environment work. It's especially useful when a new location needs both the wall and the staff kit.

Every project starts the same way — with a conversation. Send a note through the Contact page describing what you want to make, your timeline, and any reference material you have. We follow up within one business day with questions or an initial quote. The studio doesn't sell off the shelf; every project is built to brief.

Both are welcome. If you have production-ready artwork — vector files, brand standards, sized layouts — we work from yours. If you don't, we can design the piece in-house. For trade clients, we usually fabricate from your specs. For residential and family clients, we usually design.

It depends on the substrate and the complexity. Most projects ship within 2–6 weeks of approved proof. Memorial work can be expedited when needed. Large institutional projects (donor walls, multi-panel interpretive runs, capital-campaign signage) typically run 6–10 weeks. We confirm a specific lead time with every quote.

We ship anywhere in the United States, crated and palletized when the piece requires it. Pickup is available by appointment for clients in or near Owensboro. For larger commercial and institutional installs, we can coordinate delivery and install on a case-by-case basis. The studio runs by appointment — please send a note before stopping in.
